Yes...it doesn't always happen. I was in labor 4 hrs before the doctor broke "the waters." Best of Luck!

Yes you are SILLY!! You do not have to lose your mucus plug before going into labor. That being said, most women that I know have lost their mucus plug before going into labor. Heck you may have already lost it, think about that one! Just relax and just because you lose a plug does not mean that labor is immediately following! You have 3 more days till your "due date", remember that this is usually an estimate, you can go either 2weeks before or 2 weeks after, so relax! Good luck and take it easy the last few days! Pack a suitcase to take with you to the hospital, if you haven't done so already. Get your phone list/chain ready for letting everyone know about the birth of your little one! Do something besides worry about your mucus plug!

I had seven children. With a couple of them I got a little "bloody show" streak of the plug before I went into labor... but with most of them, nothing. Zippo.
You can absolutely go directly into labor without ever losing that plug. It's so hard to wait out those last few days... but your baby will appear exactly when he/she is meant to, and probably when you least expect it - lol
With my first, everyone said "First babies are always late. Don't get yourself all worked up about the due date because it's just an estimate. You'll probably go over." To prove the point, my friends planned a surprise baby shower for me two days before my due date.
I surprised them by going into labor 4 hours before the luncheon party - lol
Here's what you need to do for the next few days:
Sleep as much as you want because you want to be well-rested.
Eat what you want because it'll be the end of having an excuse to be chunky soon.
Read and watch movies and shop and meet friends for lunch and spent time with your mate because once the baby comes, you'll have limited time for these things.
Make sure your bag is packed for hospital... your laundry is caught up, your shopping/errands are caught up, and you've got some simple meals cooked ahead and frozen for when you arrive back home or after your help leaves once the baby is born.
If you're planning to breastfeed, be reading The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding put out by LaLeche League. It helps to be practically and mentally prepared.
Before you know it, that little person will be exiting the womb and entering your life with a big bang and it'll never be the same :)

You may never see yourself those your mucus plug. It's not like a cork that falls out. Everyone loses it differently. Mostly it comes out slowly and it's like your CM. If you happen to see some mucus come out that has a small ting of blood in it, like a streak that is probably your plug and you should go into labor with in 24 hours generally. If you have lost your plug don't take baths, because the baby isn't protected anymore. I've never heard of anyone going into labor who hasn't lost their mucus plug. You can go into labor without breaking your water, but the plug needs to go.

with the births of both of my girls the process of losing the mucous plug began a couple of days prior and continued until I went into labor. Good luck!

My water broke and gushed everywhere in the bathing room! the 2d time i grew to become into dilated to a 2 3 weeks earlier i surely went into exertions. The final week of my pregnany, i could have strings of mucous pouring out! It grew to become into the grossest factor!!! It grew to become into the feel of a runny nostril! yet I KNEW that because of the fact of that, i grew to become into nearing exertions. frequently your physique will launch the mucous plug as you start to dilate. a great number of circumstances nonetheless, this on no account happens! stable success! you're in for extremely an adventure!!!

OH I FEEL YOUR PAIN!!! I'm due Jan 6th and it's STILL coming out in spurts. It sucks. With my first two kids, the first one just came out in a day the next child took a week this one hell it's been a week and a half already. Yeah it can wait till everything comes out at once or you may just be a late bloomer there like I think I'm going to be unfortunately.

No, you're not silly. I lost my plug with my first--it actually popped! But I didn't lose it with any of the other seven...nor did my water break before I was at the hospital except for the first. Be patient--no one has ever been pregnant forever!

No, its not silly for you to think that since most literature says that that is what happens. But, it doesn't have to be that way. Every pregnancy and labor is different. Good Luck!
