You need to have some sort of wireless adapter in order to use wireless, the 360 doesn't have that hardware. You can pay $100 to get the official MS product, or you can look for a 3rd party USB adapter, like the ones you'd use on a computer. However, 3rd party devices are NOT guaranteed to work, so you take your chances.

There is a cheaper alternative, but it takes up a lot of space.

You can get a Logitech Wireless Play Link kit, about $30 retail. It consists of two boxes that use RF technology to link at speeds up to 1.5 Mbps. You plug one in to the 360 with the supplied ethernet cable and the other box into your modem/router with the supplied ethernet.

I've got a set with my 360, it seems to work fine with my 4 Mbps cable internet. I haven't noticed any sort of lag what so ever.

The only bad news is that the Play Link appears to have been discontinued, as it's no longer on the Logitech product list. They still support it, so if you find one, you don't have to worry too much.

If you do manage to get on-line without the adaptor let me know.... Microsoft were a Lil clever with this and the controllers as you know we can`t use the old ones and had to buy the newer versions. without the adaptor you wont be able to do a thing part from play it off-line... In the near future keep your eyes open for the black controller for the 360 it features back-lit buttons and a rubberised grip for those intense 20+ hour stints.... Good gaming.

No, you must have the adapter in order to access your wireless network in your home, trying looking for one at a GameStop or EbGames, you can buy them used, and they are guranteed to work, if you cant shell out the money, just buy some Cat5 cable and hardwire the console into your modem
