2001 BMW 330 i , incredibly clean inside and out, premium package (leather seats, electric seats, cd changer,. etc...) $17,500.

The thing is 30,000 miles. Seems to me something is fishy, right?

can bmw dealerships test the cars for odometer fraud? or if the car had been in an accident that had it sitting in the driveway for 3-4 years?

It just might be a good deal, consider this , I have several vehicles, each has a different use normally. Together they don't really have alot of miles each year because the mileage I do drive is spread out over several vehicles.

If the dealer checked it out for errors and everything else looks good, then buy it.

One of the things I used to check was the wear on the brake pedal pad, if its a high mileage car than you will usually see alot of wear on the lower right hand corner from you foot sliding off and on it.

Just FYI, I used to work at one of those used car dealerships that was a bit shady, years ago.

Good Luck and Happy Motoring !!!

Check the title for salvage, theft, flood etc through a service like carfax.com 29.99 for a month of unlimited checks on vehicle vin's. This is not a guarantee that it has a clean title. It could be repaired and never have been reported if it wasn't an insurance claim. Take it to an independent mechanic and have him look for mechanical issues, body repair, signs of flood etc. There are things you can look at such as paint matching, over spray of the paint onto door seals etc. Check in the trunk and look for water stains/mud under the carpet and quarter panels. Ultimately if it seems too good to be true it almost always is.

When something looks too good to be true, it usually is. You can get the VIN then do a search at www.carfax.com. You will have to pay a fee. However, if you buy the car and Carfax missed something, they will give you a guarantee and buy the car from you, if you find something fraudulent, later.
I used Carfax, bought a used car for less than retail, and everything the dealer said was true. It can happen.

Depends on who owned it. My mom bought a 2002 PT Cruiser.... she just went over 30000K miles!
