if you're average daytime temp in the summer is bellow 95 then you need a 1Ton capacity for every 400sq.ft. If above 95 then go with 2Ton unit for up to 600 sq.ft

Calculate the cubic feet of the space you want to cool. Then find out what size air conditioner is needed to cool this space. There are other factors other than space to take into consideration. Some of these are location of the air conditioner, how well insulated the space is, if there is anything in the space that generates a lot of heat.

Here is a general rule of thumb that is HATED by a/c contractors. Estimate one tone for each 500 square foot of living area. This will be close enough. Another method would be to go to your local electricity utility provider and get a load calculaion sheet. Good Luck!

First you should find out the square footage of the room. Next, whenever you look for an airconditioner, many of them come with a square footage signal on the unit.

When you buy the air conditioner this info will be available at the store. Just have the room size you want to use it in.

1 ton (12,000 BTU) for every 500 sq. feet of space. Recommend adding a little bit more to have, but don't oversize it.
