Yes. You can certainly be friends with someone of the opposite gender and not be sexually attracted yet be really close. Don't listen to people who will tell you that it has to become more. It doesn't, it's your choice. A genuine friendship can remain just that even if its a male and a female.

Yes!! My best pal is a guy in Ireland, who I met over the Internet. I "talk" to him for hours about my b/f, work, worries, sadness and he does the same. It is wonderful to have a friend of the opposite sex. They have opinions that we don't always see, and sometimes, things that make you mad about your partner get put into perspective by a friend as they are kinda "neutral". You go girl! I also have a male pal here where I am from who holds me when I'm sad, and keeps me company when I need a friend. (no strings attached!) It's wonderful.

Yes. I have a friendship like this.
No sex or passion just Platonic love.
(Platonic friendship is the term for this sort of friendship as the Greek philosopher,Plato, debated whether such a thing was possible)

yes its such a wonderful feeling. i got a friend from america and we talk for more than 6 hours everyday, over the internet. though i've never seen her, she makes me so happy, sadly even more than my own girl. the reason partly because there are no stringed attached. we can talk about anything even though she has a b/f. i say go for it, such people are rare and when you find em lock em up. hehe

I think at a certain level somewhat but as you get closer it will get harder and harder to be just friends.
