The Matrix is a really good movie. I don't think I can go as far as to say "the most important movie" though. How about "An Inconvenient Truth" ? Or "Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room"?
It's really hard for a non-documentary film to be "the most important movie." I think the weight of the responsibility would destroy most films. The Matrix deals with some great stuff, but does so in a very entertaining way. A lot more people will watch it then they will some documentary about the collapse of a major corporate power, or a movie by Al Gore.....

It's possible for A.I. to one day take over the world and enslave us all, but as for the movie being an important movie then no not really.

no for me X-Men and Harry Potte Series are really a GREAT,MARVELOUS and FANTASTIC movie among of all. Because X-Men shows the real discrimination among people and those who are disabled so called "mutants".Harry Potter fulfills the imagination of others about "HOW TO BE A STUDENT?"
or "WHAT LIFE AWAITS YOU IN YOUR FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL?"
