My boyfriend's English, but he's a quarter South American. Anyway, he uses the "n" word, yet he has minority friends.

I am 3/4 Asian (and 1/4 English) and we're engaged as well.

One time he was talking to his Pakistani friend, and he forgot his mate was Pakistani, so he said something racist. Then he realized...

Although he freely uses the n word, he gets upset when his Caucasian friends do, so he literally got into physical fights with them.

I'm the first non-Caucasian girl he's been with. I'm just a bit confused considering the various circumstances.

Depends on the context. if his friends are trying to be offensive then it makes sense that he would be upset by it. If he uses it in an entirely different context... who knows. No info to go on here.

I use the term "wet back" too. Does that mean I don't like my kids or their mom? no. But then I don't walk down the street yelling it at strangers either.

The idea that where he is raised is more important than how he uses it seems a little... racist.

It doesn't sound like he uses it in the context of a racial slur or against black people so I don't think so.

I mean when all is said and done, it's just a word and if he uses innocently around his mates who are ok with it, then I can't see it being a big deal.

However, if you are offended, then I would ask him to stop using it or think of an alternative word to use instead.

Maybe he just has really bad manners.

I would tell him that it is not acceptable to use the "n" word under any circumstances. He probably doesn't realize how rude it is when he says it.

he can change - give him a chance

Sick people counter: + 1 = 1

I don't how poor in geography you are but first you should learn that "South American" is NOT a race.

By South American, what do you mean?
