I was on a long trip and all of a sudden I got the low fuel message. The range miles disappeared. I filled the gas tank but it didn't record it. Everything else works fine I think.

does the gage work correctly or fluctuate now? if it work properly and range miles is still inop you have a dash module problem very expensive to repair

Most likely a problem with the module, which is inside the fuel tank. The module probably includes the pump on this vehicle too.
