Why would most people be happy to let their teenage kids watch an 18 rated action film with death, destruction and war in, but would be appaled if they watched an adult film showing people making love?

Likewise most people would say nothing about scenes of war and destruction being shown on the news, but go up in arms about a bit too much flesh being shown..

I can only think it's desensitisation of people to scenes of violence.

Note to asker....Porn stars don't make love...HELLO!
I personally can't stand to watch war films because of the graphic killing and limbs being blown off. I also don't know anyone that lets their teenage kids watch porn. I don't have any sons so maybe it's different for boys....this was a really weird question.

while some people might argue that it is because we are the most murdering mother fuckers on the planet: hence we are the dominate species, or because adults are trying to protect children from trying sex and getting each other pregnant at an early age, its none of those things.
its quite simple really.
its because of what is deemed socially acceptable.
while our society HAS become more lax with the sexual issue, we haven't succumbed to hardcore banging on the street yet and taking it as a natural thing.
parents want to fit in with society, not being left out of the norm, so thier children cant watch people having sex.

sex is not equal to love, as u kno. as such assuming th@ watching individuals makin love is relatively healthier to a violent film is inaccurate in my opinion.

u do have a point with the violent films tho (and horror); we often underestimate the power of the psyche and the effects of programming it with gore and such crud

Good point, but the violence on films is simulated, the sex on porn is real I guess.
