Five years ago I had the same project! I found that the on duty officer was my best bet & it worked. I just walked up to the parked car and asked if he had a little time to set aside to help me? Or if he knew someone who did? Luckly he was great and my paper was too. I hope this helps. Good luck!

Check the website of your local police force (should be www.yourcounty.police.uk). On there should be a link to their Public Affairs Department (depending on how good the site is you may have to use the site's search engine), and then write to them, explaining your project, and they should agree to you meeting one of their representatives. (You may need a letter of support from your Course Tutor to confirm that you are a genuine student).

Write to the superintendent of your station, asking if he has any officers willing to assist you. Explain fully the purpose of the interview, who you are and why you are doing this. It would help your case if you were little more careful with your spelling and grammar - it adds weight to your credibility.

Contact your police department (through a NONemergency number) and ask if they have a public affairs officer. Many large departments do.

If you're told that they don't have one, explain what you're looking for and get advice from the person who answers your call.

Check other police stations, ask some of your fellow friends and relatives- they might personally know of a police officer that can help you.

You can the department's own website. They usually have some sort of "press package" or something similar.

If that doesn't help than you can try contacting the chief himself. Write to him or call him and advise him of your displeasure.
