My BF has been b!tching at me to quit smoking for 6 months now. I finally decided to do so, and haven't had a cigarette in about 3 days. Yesterday, I said, "Hey babe, have you noticed I haven't smoked lately? Aren't you proud of me?" and he just mumbled something and went on about his business.
How come he could rant and rave every time I lit up, but now that I don't, he can't even give me a word or two of praise?

some people are just never happy he may be waiting for something else to complain about. I think it is great you quit smoking I know how hard it is good job and don't go back quitting is really for you and your health I am proud of you and don't know you but i know the struggle with quitting I smoked for around 26 years and on 02/24/07 it Will be 9 years since I quit

spun----you are so right!!!!----I'd like to take this opportunity to share-----we CAN----and DO----make a difference in peoples lives when we take the time to find SOMETHING we can say good about them---you sing so. beautiful--you are quite artistic----or your command of the English language always impresses me-----etc---there's always something we can find good about someone and we SHOULD because these things flourish and come back to you---we may be the only light some of these folks will remember------and may live their lives without knowing they were ever noticed for anything special. That's sad----let's all try to brighten someones path. Good Luck on your decision to BREATH instead of smoking----I'm proud of you for making it for 3 days----the worst is over now and you can do it! Congrats on your accomplishment! A lot of people don't give compliments or praise because they don't feel safe in their own being. Have you noticed that many people can't accept praise? To everybody that reads this: accept compliments with grace and humility. Remember that the person giving that praise does so from their heart---don't insult them by not accepting their praise.

Yep, that is just the way some people are.
ever notice how much PRAISE and even HONOR happens only after the PERSON HAS DIED!
Why not do it while we are still alive so we can enjoy it?

I have no idea why people are like that. But I would like to say congratulations and good luck on the not smoking. That is a very hard thing to do. I wish you the best of luck.

Because he's one of those people who lives to ***** about something so when you quit smoking you took that away from him. Give him time, he'll find something else to complain about, they always do.
