I have found that QuickBooks is the easiest software to use. As I work within the accounting industry, this is the general feedback I have found from most businesses. I also use this software a lot myself and have never found any problems with it.

Sage Instant accounts is also very good, but you may find that you need a lot of experience to use this.

Other than that, if you want to keep it really simple, eBay have accountants selling cheap and easy accounts programs for small businesses, that they have developed by using excel software. These cost under £10. I have tried them out and found them really simple and easy to use.

Quick books is very user friendly. Barclays Bank Business advisors sell the package and there is a discount if you open a buisness account at the same time.

Spreadsheet should do the job, you could even Macro program it to make things easier for you too.
