Yes you can put them in a washer on a gentle synthetics wash if you are going to use a tumble dryer then it needs to be on a cool setting but hanging them out to dry is best alot of clothes are labelled dry clean only this is a manufacturing preference but some things can be washed
Dry clean is only another method of cleaning with the use of chemicals it is gentler but it still has its problems like bad for enviorment also materials in washers and dry cleaners can cause bobbling.
i PERSONALLY i wash my trousers that are dry clean only along with other things its the drying and washer temperature that causes shrinkage

Yes, you can buy a tumble drier system that includes a bag and the dry clean sheets to put in it.
I used this system a while back but for some reason haven't done for ages as I try to wash by hand.
It depends on what the trousers are made from but you might get away with a gentle wash if you can . Or you can get Dabitoff in a bottle for spot cleaning which works well.
hope this helps.
try Lakeland shops or catalogue for more info. on the tumble dry system.

Try hand washing them with a really gentle liquid first off - something like Stergene. If they are ok after that then put them on the gentle cycle in your washing machine. My daughter was terrible for buying dry clean only items and I always washed them - never had a disaster yet. Obviously this wouldn't work on something like suede or leather - use common sense on fabric in question.

Wash - gentle cycle, cold. Hang to dry. I've washed many dry clean only things. Dry cleaning prolongs the life of clothes, washing will wear them out sooner, but can be done.

how old is your son? If he bought them and is old enough to buy his own clothes then he should be old enough to get them dry cleaned himself. Maybe this will help him chose more carefully when shopping.. I wash everything, if it lives through a gental cycle by itself then hang to dry. If it doesn't live through it then you'll know for next time, lol.

For the cost incentive that it may bring, I have to personally say "No" and not to be a nay sayer, but if you can get your trousers done and pressed for less than$4.50 per garment, then you all need to keep your laudrymat (hint..hint..am I mean or what?).open?
