So far everybody's listed places I've been to, and they're all pretty good.

I'm looking for some hole-in-the-wall places.

Dr. Hoggly Woggly's Tyler Texas BBQ (don't laugh) on Sepulveda (close to Van Nuys) used to be rated the best in So Cal, but has gone downhill in the past few years.

BBQ King on Sunset at Figueroa (just north of downtown LA) is a no frills (who needs them) joint that puts out some great grub at a very reasonable price.

I've heard a lot of good things about Pecos Bill's on Victory (between Glendale and Burbank), but I think it is only open for lunch and it is take out only.

Stay away from The Pig on La Brea, it is way overrated and too expensive. I would also stay away from the chain restaurants such as Tony Roma's as they all parboil their ribs instead of slow cooking/smoking them.

Good Eating!!

If you are willing to take a drive to Chino (San Bernardino County), there is a fantastic little resturant there called Joey's BBQ. My dad calls it "Real BBQ." They fill all your requirements - It is definately a hole in the wall and they smoke and BBQ all of their meats in the back yard of the old house converted into a resturant. The parking is tight, the building is a little funny looking and the food is fabulous. Add it up and it means a really great dining experience.

Try the Bear Pit in Mission Hills on Sepulveda near the 118.

I like going to Robin's in Pasadena. If you're going with a group, try the Garbage Can Combo. It's a bunch of different BBQ served on a garbage can lid. Here's a link:

It replaced into the region they later filmed the best Gun scenes in... it replaced right into a SAR Swimmer carry close-out and had this is own volleyball courtroom. My appropriate BBQ ever replaced into the pig we roasted final month interior the Philippines for my Grandson's Baptism !! We roast a baboy the different month... we advance them. purely FYI, i've got presented Kansas-type BBQ Sauce to the section... they like it !!
