I know exactly how you feel. I'm 16 and i've just recently reached the stage where i want to buy ALL books that can teach me something about the world and discover more about our history and on the people in general. I'm extremely into Philosophy aswell and one book that i really recommend is "The Prophet" by Kahlil Gibran and "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho. These books speak very philosophically about the nature of our spirits and how we can live a good and fulfilled life. This will without a doubt allow you to analyse yourself more deeply and figure out some things which you never knew. Sometimes you think that reading a book will not change that much about you, but these are the things that will teach you the most and experiencing things yourself ofcourse, but just reading one of these books, is an experience in itself. Hope This Helps! :)

You need to begin where it all began, namely Ancient Greece. Pick up some works by Plato, i would say The Republic, The Trial and Death of Socrates (which is actually a collection of three, or four - depending on the version -, Platonic Dialogs, Euthyphro, Apology, Crito, and Phaedo), and then finally the Meno. These works will give you a good understanding of Plato. It is important to go back to this earliest stage in western philosophy in order to give you the proper background for all other works. The ideas of Plato have profoundly shaped our world and if you do not understand his views you can have no hope of truly understanding any philosophical work produced after.

When there's times in your life where you feel like you're totally alone in what you're feeling, know that you are not alone. The most influential book I've read was the PostSecret series by Frank Warren. They aren't novels, but a collection of anonymous secrets sent by postcard to the author. Sometimes the best relief is to let go of a secret or even to know that someone somewhere knows how you feels. I'm not sure if this will help (or if it's what you're looking for), but it's a good read nonetheless.

You can see some postcards (updated every Sunday) at www.postsecret.com. :)

Read carefully “Bhagavad Gita” – the song of God . You will no longer feel like kid without parents. There you will find the absolute view on reality given by the Supreme Authority, God Himself. The essence of all knowledge is revealed within the 700 verses of Gita.
As there are many translations of this great book of wisdom in English which are in its majority not authorized and distort its real meaning, please make sure you read the “Bhagavad Gita As It Is” with translations and commentaries of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the most prominent contemporary follower and preacher of the message of Krishna.
It is available for reading online on www.krishna.com

Start with Billy Graham's "The Journey." Max Lucado's "Cure for the Common Life" is awesome...actually anything from Max Lucado is awesome! These will start you off right, and the next step would be reading the Scriptures. It changed everything in my life, including the dynamics of my family.
