My father is a strong man, If I seen him cry, I usually already have started. Then I usually go into shock because I think I have seen him cry twice in my existence of 41 years. Once during the passing of my little brother when he was sixteen years old, and the passing of somebody that we both looked up to, my grandfather, his father.

Be a good friend for him. Go and talk to him and find out what the problem is. You may make his day because of your support. Dad's do cry, some times from so much stress and other times its depression. But be a friend first and not a daughter and see what happens. There's nothing that says Dad's can't cry. They are human and have feelings also. And he will always be strong and be there for you when you need him. So be there for him this time.

I never got to see my real father cry, but my children see their father cry at times. When my husbands brother died, or his friend died, he really cried. Our kids just put their hands on his shoulder, and hugged him, and they tell him, "Daddy it will be okay, I love you." Then they start to cry to. It is so hard to see him cry, but it shows he is a human with compassion, and I love that about him.
It is a rarity for men to cry, but when they do, it really effects the heart of the person around them. No one should think bad of any one who cries, for even Jesus cried at Lazarus death.

I've seen my big, strong father cry when one of our cats,(which he loved) was run over and killed. I held his hand and cried with him. I gave him permission to cry in front of me. It wasn't like, you're a man and you shouldn't cry, he felt sorrow and I think it helped him to know that I would not think he was not strong if he cried in front of me.
