Dark nail polish often leaves fingernails with yellow stain. To whiten them, soak your nails for about 10 minutes in one of the following:
Denture cleaning tablet and bowl of warm water
Lemon juice and a bowl of water
Equal part of water and hydrogen peroxide
As a prevention, always use base coat before applying dark nail polish.

They say to soak your fingernails inside a lemon wedge, but from my experience, it doesn't work. If you need instant whitening, a white undernail pencil will work...outside of that, just go with a french manicure and ALWAYS use a base coat if you do heavily pigmented nail polish (reds and purples, for instance)
