I want to colour my hair, but I cannot make up my mind between colouring it full and just having some highlights.

My hair is naturally black, with big curls. It's layered and of medium length (bad haircut!). My face is KINDA round, too. I have a medium olive complexion, and dark eyes. My eyes are my best features, by the way.

So what colour would you suggest? And, do I colour it full or just have some highlights?

DO NOT tint your hair!! highlights would be better...with your skin tone, stick to highlight colors that have warmth to them; honey blondes, warmer reds, etc...save yourself the hassle of touchups, etc, with full tinting and go for the highlights!!!!!!!!!!!!!! With your kinda round face, aim for a few more highlights (in whichever color you choose) at the top; this will give the illusion of a slightly longer, less full face!!

Since you have an olive complexion I don't suggest to choose a dye which would put u in disadvantage (very light and extravagant colours - that's bothering).
First of all you should know that high lightening is more dangerous than full colour because it will affect your hair in such a way that it would seem as if it had been burnt or something. Trust me, I've already done it twice.
On the other hand, if u choose the alternative of colouring it full you might not like the hue chosen, issue that would not be so much observed in case of dreads. Be careful about it.
In my opinion, if u vote for full, try a hue closer to the original black (maybe a softer one!), but if u want highlights try to be more dareful about it ( a soft and pleasant blonde very close to brown won't hurt a bit).
Kisses!

Well, since your hair is naturally dark, you can only really go lighter, or brighter. It's a LOT healthier for your hair if you just get highlights. Re-growth is the main problem, and is much less noticeable than a full head colour. You won't need to have your roots done as much, so more cost effective. I've also got dark hair, and maintaining a colour is hard, and expensive, especially if lightened. Also, you say you have nice eyes, how about more highlights at the back, to bring out your face, and eyes more?? Good luck

In my opinion, olive complexions look like crap with blonde hair, unless you are Beyonce. Don't go too blonde, maybe some caramel or reddish highlights, but don't make them too stringy.

Highlights are a major expense, keeping up the roots every six weeks. An all over color will just get dull if you don't go too drastic.

It's a matter of expense and taste. After all, we don't have to live with the hair, you do.

I would have some slices put in underneath the top layer of hair, this way you can still see them but they don't need doing as often as you can't see the roots. I would go for some nice red highlights, don't go with blonde.
Hope this has helped

Highlights. They last longer and look better. With black hair and olive complexion, add brown or reddish highlights, not too light.

I recommend - Highlights. Do not choose very bright colours. Try some dull coloured highlights. I'm sure that will spice up your looks.

Try lowlights. It is just what it sounds like - highlights underneath instead of on top. It adds depth, is easy to maintain (or grow out completely), you can be a little more dramatic with your color choice. Have fun!
