Most people make the mistake of dealing with wasp infestations during daylight hours, but the really safe way to deal with them is at night when they are inactive and do not fly. If the nest is on the underside extended area of your flat roof, just get a long pole and knock it down (between 9PM and midnight) and completely smash it with your feet or with a hammer. If they are nesting inside the roof and have an entry and exit hole, then plug it up or tape over it and they will all die in a couple of days. Because they mark nesting spots with pheneromes, other wasps will want to rebuild where you knocked down a nest, so I would recommend that you spray that area with a little WD40. When you are all done, I think you should get a can of Wasp & Hornet spray and spray the entire can all over the top of your flat roof. The stuff is harmless to people and birds, but will repel them from investigating you and your property, and then you will be safe to have your summer activities out there. Hope this helps.

I have recently returned from an Austrialians bush where all the hairs were covered in wasps.
The only effective method used by the aboriginal tribe I lived with was to eat large quantities of garlic and await your next movement probably the day after. Then lavishly smear the excrement all over your chest and feet. This is very important and I will explain shortly.
Then locate the queen wasps nest and urinate all over it. When ( approx 30 seconds later ) 8 million wasps attact you they will be entranced by the delicious aroma of your chest and proceed to sting you at will. Await the customary 5 minutes of being stung and then pretend to faint. When on the ground turnover and chrush the bastards in a sort of slam motion preferrably against concrete. This will stun them at which time you MUST grab the big one " The Queen " by her wings and place her up your a rse.
The remaining wasts will clearly get the idea and fly away to pastures green and you will have sorted out a major local hazard and a stumbling block to why more people don't adapt to the outdoor life.
Good luck and let me know how you get on using this method.

You need to put red cellophane as a filter on a torch.
At night time using this torch light cut out as much other light as poss, dust and completely destroy wasp colony. The spray has an additive which makes them go super-agressive.
Cover your exposed areas well.
The wasps find red-light difficult to see.
It's a common infestation problem in Australia

I think you can phone the council and they will come and remove it for you for free, I no they definatly do for hornets so I should think they do wasps as well.
Failing that get up there with a can of hairspray and a lighter flame grill the little pests.

Scott; what's the only distinction between me and every person else who has spoke back so some distance? on the time of typing, i'm the only knowledgeable, skilled, geared up and criminal, expert " Exterminator ". call some adult men like me, in ye section. tell them the region and ask how lots. should not be that lots. $10's. No way $a hundred's. And the guy can pop out. experience up. Probe into the nest and inject some white powder. end of. no person gets harm. no person dies.

Spray the nast with derris dust and run like hell and they will be all dead in a few days. But whatever you do NOT spray them with water they go mad and sting you and its not like its just one of them either and when you have had about 4 stings thats when you find they are hiding in your clothes! (this is the embarresing bit) Then your first reaction is to stip to the skin and run around naked.

nippon ant killer , a powder you squirt where they land to enter the nest, they walk into the nest and kills them all. do it later in the day when it is cooler. i have used this a lot and it is very good, you can get the powder from garden centers.
take care.
