I have a Mac, and it works fine. If you want to play games and watch music vids them i would say go with the Vaio. I cannot watch or listen to Yahoo's music or vids, as they are not mac friendly,. I have noticed this with a lot of sites on the net.
However if you use your computer in a professional way, say music writing, photography, movie making, then go with the mac. Good luck with your choice.

I have owned a Vaio (VGN series) and now own a MacBook. It really depends on what you plan to do with the computer.

I purchased the mac because I was interested in High Definition movie editing and then discovered that I can do everything I want, also at work, with my MacBook. It is fully compatible with Windows (more so if you have Office for Mac installed on it) without having to install Windows itself.

Multimedia-wise, the Mac has everything you expect a modern PC to have.

It took me very little to get used to Mac OSX, but I had to spend some time nevertheless.

My answer is: go for the MacBook, you will be happy with it and will have much less trade-offs than what you might expect or have been told!

This is an interesting question. Too much techno bable is confusing but a little techno bable is good for the soul. Anyways, a Vaio will run fine and will be Vista capable BUT a MacBook is designed not to freeze, crash or get any virus that a Windows based Vaio is prone to. The operating system is completely different but is much easier to use. It will take time to get used to but will be very much worth it. software is also included on a Mac. It will come with iLife '06 but if you wait a while longer, you will be able to buy a Mac with the new version of Mac OS X on it: Leopard (the operating systems are counted in felines for some reason...) My recommendation is a Mac. One will set you back at about £800 pounds and is truly worth it.
P.S you will be able to install windows xp/vista on a Mac but unable to install Mac OS X on a Vaio.

They're both excellent computers. I have a MacBook and it works perfectly (as all Apple computers do, in my opinion), however you may not like the screen quality, so I suggest you take that into consideration when you choose.
