For starters, its not really that bad...
You could try and remind yourself that there are other people living in the house... (my case)
You could try and reduce the volume a little tiny bit everytime, and don't allow yourself to touch the volume control...

IF it's not "are-u-nuts" loud... then invest in a pair of quality high-performance speakers designed to bring out the highest fidelity (hi-fi) of the recording - imaging, depth, warmth, acoustics, dynamics are more important than just "sheer volume" - which will not contribute to enjoyment of the recorded music. Are you listening to "stereo", or "hi-fi" ???

I was listening ot my iPod and my little cousin *he's like 10* wanted to listen to my iPod .I gave it to him. When he was about to put the earphones on. His face was pale from the loud noise in the iPod.
