My doctor says that it just happens to some women but i seem to be having recurring UTI's which require antibiotics. Does anyone know of any preventatives or cures because my doctor doesn't seem to be giving me many suggestions.

Hi em - been there done that! I had recurrent UTIs (ie every 2 - 3 weeks!) for 2 years before I found a way to stop them and *touch wood* I havent had an infection now for 5 years. My secrets!

#1 DONT fail to do this - go for a wee after any sexual activity. It flushes any would-be bugs out before they have a chance to get hold!
Cut down / out completely caffeine esp tea and coffee
Wipe front to back (like you need to be told that!)
LOADS of water, at least 2lts a day

I guarantee follow these and youll be sorted in no time. Yes, some people like us are unlucky but there are ways to beat it. If I can be any help at all pls do contact me :O) Bex xx

As someone who suffered from UTIs for years, I have found much relief by altering my diet and habits.
1.) After sex, pee immediately. It will flush any toxins out from sex.
2.) After going to the bathroom, make sure you wipe from FRONT to BACK. I am sure your dr. told you this, but you'd be shocked at how many people don't. I also use baby wipes to keep extra clean.
3.) Drink REAL cranberry juice, you'll know it's real because you have to pay out the rear for it. In Chicago, it's like 10 a bottle. Don't get the cran juice cocktail, it defeats the purpose(loaded with bad sugars).
4.) Stay hydrated with water. Cut down on refined crap and too much caffeine (both will dehydrate your system).

People with UTIs can develop kidney infections, bladder infections, kidney stones. It's serious.

By taking better care of myself, I have eliminated them. If you overuse antibiotics, you will develop an immunity to them.

My grandmother and I were both chronic sufferers for years, until we started taking cranberry supplements, plus a potent probiotic. There's an acid in cranberries that prevents the bacteria sticking to the linings of the bladder and the urethra.
A good probiotic is beneficial for many many reasons, not just UTIs, and it's especially helpful if you've had to take antibiotics, as it helps restore the balance of friendly bacteria in your body.

Obvious I know, but drink loads of water and loads of cranberry juice, flushing out the bacteria by going to the toilet alot often reduces the amount of UTIs. Also after going to the toilet, always wipe front to back.

Im not sure how old you are but if you are sexually active this can happen. If so go to toilet before and after intercourse.
If you are not sexually active it could be that you dont drink enough water. I used to get uti's all the time but now i never get them.

Drink cranberry juice as this stops the bacteria from being able to stick to the urinary tract lining. Also make sure that you pee after having sex as this can also contribute to the infections.
