Biuret is a test for the peptide bond and all amino acids are linked together in protein by way of the peptide bond. The nitrogen of the peptide bond combines with the copper in biuret to give the characteristic positive test.

The Biuret test works due to a reaction between copper ions and peptide bonds in an alkaline solution.

You get a nice purple colour with all proteins because they are made up fundementaly of peptide bonds. A proteins primary structure is made up of amino acid units linked together by peptide bonds. So in a protein there has to be LOADS of them.

i had a faint false positive on a cheap dollar store test but thats because i took a second look at it past the time frame. With this pregnancy i had a faint positive on two first reasponse test so i took a clear blue digital test to be sure because those you don't have to really guess with.
