"Who refuses to believe it?" -One writer says. haha

The "politically-correct" types, that's who. In China right now over 500,000 dogs are in the process of being clubbed to death as a measure to wipe out rabies as well.

To the bane of all liberals, not all cultures are equal.

It is not easy to say "Chinese do this" or "blacks do that". Some Chinese eat one or more of the things you mention but the majority do not. I have eaten with Chinese people almost every day for a few years now in western and eastern China. None of them have ever suggested eating the foods you mention but probably a few have at one time or another.

Dog is not cheap like pig meat (80 percent of all meat eaten in China is pork) but some people will seek it out. My best friend ate dog a couple of times because it is said to be good for stomach problems although it was hard for her to find in northwestern China. Her friend finally found someone in the countryside who butchered a dog for her. Donkey meat is not hard to find in the northwest and it is a common type of dumpling (jiaozi). I have eaten frog (not just the legs but the whole thing), whale mouth, sheep kidney, cicada larvae and fried snake skin but I passed on the chance to eat live lobster on two occassions and scoprion once. They tie the front claws of the lobster against the body to keep it from attacking the diners and break the tail upwards so you can get your chopsticks into the soft under-tail.

The Chinese in other regions joke that the Guangdong people (near Hong Kong) will eat anything that has its back to the sun. In eastern China, frogs are a common dish and they eat several types of insects.

Read the book or watch the movie Giant where west Texans follow the Mexican custom of eating calf brains right out of the cooked head.

who refuses to believe it?...I've spent a lot of time in China. I speak mandarin. No, I am not Chinese...but these are just meat/protein sources..what's the big deal? We eat cows (which are sacred to Indians) and pigs (which are loathsome to others) and snails and frogs...Just different strokes for different folks. The chinese have made an absolute mastery out of eating anything that is edible..probably because they have had to...But nevertheless it is an art that is far superior to western standards.
