If I buy this pattern for a fur shrug that goes up to a size 20, is there a way I can take the size a little bit up to fit me, because i have huge breast, and dont know if the 20 will be alright. So i was aiming for a 20.

There is usually a solid line that runs across the middle of say the shirt front and back pattern. Say you decide that you want to add 2 inches. Cut on that line all the way across. Take some newspaper and tape and seperate the top and bottom of the pattern by 2 inches and tape the newspaper in the open space to just expand the length. I hope that makes sense. I have done this several times if I want a longer shirt or pants. If I were investing alot of money in the fabric, I would do as stated above and try it in muslin or use an old sheet, anything that will give you a good idea. Good Luck, it will be beautiful I am sure when you are done.....

I would make the pattern out of muslin first just to see if it fits. Don't complete the whole pattern just sew up the main parts such as the left and right front, back and sleeves. If you are using a knit fur and the muslin patterns fits then sew up the pattern. If not, see what is wrong. To tight, sleeves to short, pleats in the wrong place, stuff like that. The ways to change a pattern differ as to what is wrong. There are lots of sewing books that cover this problem just purchase a good book and it should help you.

chalk out 3 inches to each side on seam line on the side. Also add 2 inches on the part that should cover your breast it will work. If it doesn't just add fur ties on the end for closure long enough to make a bow or a big strap of satin.
Work it girl.

add the same amount to the sides and back fold line( in the back if there is one ) also don't forget to add the same to the facings if there are any.when you do this make the shrug out of and old sheet ,for the size.that's what I do if my fabric is expensive or I have to increase the pattern.the shrugs I have made called for stretch fabrics as well, make sure what you want can be made in fur or you may be out a bunch of money!

Sure. Hold the pattern piece up to yourself to estimate how much more material you need to add. On the seam side of the pattern add a strip of newspaper, butcher paper, tissue paper, whatever you have to allow however much space you need. If there is a collar you may need to add to it so it matches the other pattern piece that you enlarge. Same procedure to lenthen pieces.

you can simply adjust your centerline before cutting. this should add room evenly on both sides of your pattern.
