You need to think to yourself is it worth risking your friendship? Because if you start a relationship with him and it dont work out, theres a good chance you will never be friends with him again no matter how you feel right now. So f its worth the risk just be straight foward with him and casually suggest you hang out as more than friends and see how it goes. his worst response is he would rather remain friends and then just tell him he is probably right and that will end it. Depends when you realised it. If you felt like this for at least six months then maybe you should ask him if you'll ever be something more than friends

tell him directly .... its good to have best friend as a girlfriend ... but make sure that he don't have a girlfriend if he don't go ahead ... all the best :)
