Plants store much of it for later use through photosynthesis. Plants have the secret of converting energy into matter, and all other processes on earth convert matter into energy. Without plants there would be no life on Earth. Much of the energy from the sun warms the earth, or is stored in the oceans by warming the water. Most of the energy reaching the earth passes back out into space, without being used at all.

It drives the photosynthesis of all green plants. It gets locked up in the structures of plants. Most of it goes to drive the weather, warming the land and oceans. A tiny bit of it gets captured by solar cells. But eventually nearly all of it gets radiated back into space, which is why it gets cold at night.

According to the book I happened to have next to me, the distribution of energy from the sun to Earth breaks down as follows:
47% - Absorbed by the ground
19% - Absorbed by the atmosphere and clouds
34% - Reflected back out from the atmosphere and clouds
(This is a very coarse breakdown -- a more detailed analysis would include energy reflected from the ground, radiated from the ground, etc.)
The vast majority of the energy absorbed simply goes into heating and maintaining Earth's temperature. Much of this energy evaporates water and drives air currents, producing the weather patterns we see.

Now,people are using solar energy by different methods.#####
Example:-solar vehicles, solar heater.solar cookers..........etc....!!!!!!!!
