Hi guys, happy new year to you all, thanks for taking the time to read this. I've got these horrible grainy lines coming up on windows, both vertically and horizontally. It's not the monitor because I've tried two different ones, it's not the graphics card because I took it out and connected through the original monitor port and it's still coming up, it's not a virus because I scanned with my symantec antivirus and there was no infection, It's not my resolution because I've changed it and it's still there. It's so so frustrating! Any ideas would be SO greatly appreciated, thanks a lot guys. Take it easy and all the very best.

That doesn't make sense....
Do you mean you removed the gr card and used the monitor connector still on the PC ?
That would mean you have graphics on your main board. If you have this enabled and you install a graphics card this could cause problems, you must disable the 'onboard' graphics in the PC's BIOS/setup.

the fact you scanned it with norton makes no difference as far as i'm concerned(it's pants) , this definatly sounds like a hardware problem. have you tried "safe mode" , could it be outside interference eg:- magnetism(speakers) etc, have you checked all the cables internally of your system. you've checked a few of the common causes yourself anyway, so maybe it's a mobo problem. is the monitor cable seperate from the montor(plugs in) or is it moulded (joined to montor)? try a different cable if seperate.

uninstall the graphics card Driver and reboot, then reinstall the same graphics card Driver or a the latest version of the Driver for your card.

if that don't fix it, then it's time to pop the lid and just check that the card is sitting in the slot right

If you checked that the hardware - the VGA card is okay, then I suggest you uninstall the VGA driver. Use the driver cd that came with your motherboard and re-install the VGA driver. Hope it helps.
