One reason is that rich people are rich because they need cheap labour. You can't be rich and have all the bits and pieces that go with the lifestyle without people who wait on you or work for you.

I argue with a friend of mine over this all the time. We were born here in the USA, and it was just that, an accident of birth. Anyone from Africa, or Mexico, or Guatamala, or any other place could have accidentally been born here. And what gives us this special privilege? Nothing more than that accident of birth. After 9/11, my sister gave me a refrigertor magnet that says "God bless America" doesn't mean "God damn everybody else." I think it's very fitting. But then again, to go on with your question, why are there so many people living in this country who are so rich, when there are poor people who can't afford to clothe or feed their children? And the flip side of that is those rich people living in rich countries. Someday, I hope, people will end up in the first dimension of the Heavens, and the others, who give and care, end up in the higher number dimensions. My own brand of religion I guess.

The human tendency to grow the population makes it likely that any given person is born because of the human capability to produce children rather than the populace's financial ability to make the children rich. That's why any given person is likely poor. So too, the ability to make a country and control a government is determined by factors other than the ability to make that country rich. Similarly, any given country is likely poor.

It's a lot easier to be a poor person in a poor country than it is to be a poor person in a rich country. The working poor in agrarian societies have a lot of time to themselves and very few possessions to interfere with village life. They don't experience much lack. However, the poor in rich countries are constantly reminded of how much they lack.

So, on a positive note, even though most countries are poor, and most people in any given country are poor, the vast majority of people are not suffering as much as the homeless in America.

There are( business's and consumers).Self reliance was instilled very harshly in past generation's and not today and this is part of the reason there's a divide in the community wealth as flashing lights take the the money from the people and line the pockets of the builders of the machine and owner. The largest problem is buying 100% made products of your home country then all people in that home country would live comfortable as there would be more employment and more GDP.

Rich countries develop their natural resources and develop their national assets. The earnings they get through this progress are distributed among its people--those that in turn did work hard for their country to reach their status.

Poor countries have leaders guilty of graft and corruption. The money intended for the poor and the needy end up in the pockets of greedy government officials and their families and friends; leaving the rest of the country in poverty--therefore a poor country.
