I agree with Kenneth...
I am indifferent about the video being shown to the public.
I think the execution should have been done in a professional manner. Saddam may have been a cruel dictator, but in his last moments someone should have taken the time to read his crimes and given him a final chance to seek forgiveness or something with his last words.
The execution was horrible. I heard that some even danced on and around his dead body, even spitting on it. The man payed his price...leave his dead body alone.
I think that those involved in the recording do need to be punished, though. They broke the law, they were not permitted to record the execution and they did so. That act of defiance and disrespect alone is worthy of some kind of punishment.
I thought Saddam was evil, drawing my conclusions based on things I have seen or heard via the media until I read a story from an American nurse who took care of him.
The nurse said he saved breadcrumbs to feed the animals. He watered a patch of weeds and spoke of gardening as a child. He fondest memories were of reading to his daughter. And he had one particular memory of giving her half a tum when she had indigestion.
After reading that I realized that he was a father, a son...people did love this man. The American nurse even grew to love him, when her brother died and she had to leave to return to America for the funeral...he consoled her, and said if she ever needed a brother he would be there for her.
The American military men that dealt with him said he was always kind and respectful to them. And never hesitated to show his appreciation to them for what they were doing.
I guess just being reminded of Saddam's more "human" side has made me realize that no one needs to be "heckled" or mistreated in their final moments in this life...no matter what he did or how he treated others, it don't make it right for someone to do it to him.
Two wrongs can never make a right.
And that is just my 2 cents...

I don't feel bad about the publication of the hanging of Saddam in and in itself. I am pissed at the way it was carried out. What it looked like (Whether or not you agree with executions or not) was revenge killing by a lynch mob. What that does is hurt the credibility of the Iraq government. Considering that people feel that the Iraqi government looks like a puppet of the US it didn't need the help. It should have been done in a way where everyone should have been in uniform, his crimes read out, his punishment, and then does he have any last words. Also, Iraq could have waited until the end of Eid as well. The man is going to be executed. Who cares if he lived a few more week? But he's dead. Period. Now let's move on.

Im not saying I agree or disagree with him being executed or it being shown.I think that it is proof positive that the sentance was carried out. People didnt believe Hitler was dead because all they had was what someone said happened,no proof.Everyone seems to have something to say,but when they started looking for him no one complained. What did people think would happen? No one cared now that everyone got what they wished for they dont feel to good about it.But remember Saddam would kill publicly to instill fear.Maybe since poeple actually see you will die for Acts Against Humanity it will instill fear in them.

Saddam was now useless. His hanging was just 'cruelity to animals' it was not supposed to be done. They should have given him a sleeping drug or the Chemical weapon gas thing or something else. They are heartless - recording it was a crime but everyboady wanted to see it including the Sunnis, Kurds and Shiites and the rest of the world.... so what? Only cruelity to animals is wrong there!

The hanging of Saddam should be made public so that people will know if he was really hanged.

Wheteher you agree with death penalty of not the way Saddam was treated leading up to his esecution was just wrong. He did not deserve to be taunted so. Yes I know he committed some truly heinous crimes but he was executed for the deaths of around 150 people, he was not found accountable for the thousands of other deaths he also authorised so he basically got away with genocide. The death penalty is not justice it is purely revenge. we must move away from a revenge type mentality if we are to move forward in our growth as a race.

Looked like torture to me. I think we/they should have put him to sleep. What do kids think about this? We all need to mature more here and not HANG people, this is like the 1500 years or something.
