Sorry, but the Australian Government opted out of the British honours system a number of years ago, so none of the current Australian team will receive British honours (unless they chose to receive a Honorary Award, but the last time the British Government tried that the Australian Government got very annoyed)!

They can receive Australian Honours, the highest of which, I think, is the Order of Australia (AO) if they haven't already.

They should be awarded with the praise of completing the finest performance in a series that we have seen for a long time.

You see, unlike England, we dont go over the top when one of our sporting teams wins a trophy for once in its life. We do not have the problem they do of being quite poor at the sports they created.

The folly of awarding the MBE's to the English after 2005 has been shown up. If you go by that the whole Australian team would be knighted, with Ponting, Warne, McGrath all made Lord's.

I do not think that any honours are to be awarded for winning the Ashes series 5-0 as Australia already holds the record for retaining the Ashes for a long time as compared to England.

However, for their overall performance till date they deserves to be honoured.

Many of the existing Aussie team already have gongs, I know Punter does and I would be amazed if Warney and Pidge don't. Troy Cooley definitely deserves one now!

They should be awarded the right to keep the Ashes in Australia, they have played fair, won fair, so should be given the real thing and not a copy

For sure, we have not had this much fun in Scotland since we beat England world champions at rugby last year.
