Get a cat. They won't eat the eggs either.

Cats are only going to be marginally helpful because they can't get underneath the coop and the mice will find that out soon enough. dCon will only help a little because the mice are going to preferentially eat the feed rather than the rat bait. Snakes are quite effective because mice freeze or even freakout at just the sight of one. However, keeping the snakes in the right location may be difficult, and the chickens might freak out or start pecking on the snakes. Forget ultrasonic repellant methods.

The glue strips make the most sense as primary control, plus preventing feed from falling through the floor, and adding rat bait underneath where the chickens cannot access it, all together is a potentially practical integrated pest management strategy you should consider. Change out the glue strips as they load up, or about every 5-7 days since they lose adhesive strength.

Pests like mice can be difficult to get rid of on one treatment however can work. I recommend contacting a pest control company. Buying pets to control mice will perhaps not be effective.

I've had great success with this trap in my house:

I've caught over ten mice with it so far and it can be used over and over indefinitely. Or, you can try making the free homemade humane trap described here:

http://www.helpinganimals.com/wildlife_livingWithMice.asp

If you do live trap mice, please be sure to check the traps several times a day and release the mice promptly, approximately a mile away from your home. It is much more cruel to allow a mouse in a live trap to slowly starve to death than to kill it quickly with a snap trap. Also, if you use the live traps outside, put some bedding (torn-up paper towels or cotton balls) inside the trap so the mice won't freeze to death during the night. When you release the mice, do it in an area with some sheltering bushes or plants. If you are a kind person, you might also leave a little bird seed or oatmeal for them.

The absolute cruelest traps are glue traps. Mice have been known to gnaw off their own limbs and tear off their skin in an effort to escape, as they starve or dehydrate to death or suffocate in the glue. Poison isn't any better, as the mice die slowly and painfully from internal bleeding. It can take up to a week for them to die, and then they smell as they rot behind your walls.

It doesn't take much extra effort to be kind. You will feel better and so will the mice! Good luck!

Located in Southern California, not far from the Mexico border, San Diego could be the oldest city in California, created in 1769 and if you intend to know a city with an enchanting organic elegance and a pleasing environment, with delicate temperatures and lots of sun with hotelbye you ought to start. In San Diego you are able to visit: museums, gardens, Spanish Colonial model architecture found in Balboa Park, the entire world famous San Diego Zoo, and the Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum. SeaWorld San Diego is among the city's major attractions, particularly for families. It is found across the waterfront in Mission Bay. For a lot of American's SeaWorld has been quite a long time household custom, having been with us since the 1960s. Among the shows would be the variety of shows presenting monster whales, sea lions, dolphins, and other sea life. You will find all kinds of rides from roller coasters plunging in to water, to more sedate carnival type rides for tots. SeaWorld is an aquarium that allows for close up talks about sharks and other sea animals that may be observed via an acrylic tube, along side feel tanks, and close activities with dolphins and people of tidal pools.

I agree that a Cat would be the best solution, but if you don't want a cat, glue strips are great! Put them along the walls as mice run along perimeters. It is a little cruel, but very effective. DO be very careful not to place the strips where other animals can get to them. It can be a very sticky situation! (sorry, couldn't help the pun)

Rat poison will do the trick. if they get under the pen, put the poison where u know they get at, ie a garbage bin bag, or some other food. this way the poison is away from the chickens. if u can find where they are coming from then put the poison at the enterance. those that know the enterance will be killed off.

Those square sticky pads. You can get them at Home depot in the pesticide aisle. Or mostly likely ant Lowes or home improvement warehousse store. Dont try to pull them off though cause the stuff holds em so good they will rip apart. Kind of gross.

a cat works the best and is arguably the most humane. after that, a good ole fashion mouse trap works well and the animal isn't stuck to glue for hours and hours and potentially chew its legs off. i wouldn't put poisons down as your birds might get into it as well, plus i'm always against chemicals as opposed to non-chemical solutions
