I think they make great pets for the right person. I work with a local rabbit rescue. We have so many breeders in this area that rabbits are in almost every shelter. It's truly sad how overpopulated these animals are.

Too much work for me. I used to have a cute dutch rabbit, but she was tempormental, chewed on the cage all night, and was just overall a handful. I played with her 3 hours a day and that was all I could give her, they need a whole lot of attention, but they're definately worth it and can even be litter trained :]

I'm glad to know that someone in the world loves bunnies.

I've given rabbits a fair chance with me. I've kept them a couple of times in my life. They are so cute, sweet and cuddly, at first. I even had one rabbit that I litter trained and he was allowed to roam the house... for a couple of years. He was the life of the household. Everyone knew him & expected to see him when they came to my house. He would hop up on the couch, and watch TV with you... or snooze in the rocker, or play tug-o-war... he was pretty smart as far as rabbits go.

But over time, rabbits later become nasty, stinky, destructive and otherwise undesirable pets, as far as I'm concerned.

Personally, I wouldn't ever have a rabbit as a pet again. They are rodents and rodents should be where God intended them to be... in the wild ... in the food chain, as food for other animals.

Sorry... I don't agree with you or many of your posters here about keeping bunnies for pets. I admit that I do love animals. I have many. However, rabbits are just not my cup 'o tea ... from previous experiences.

As Elmer says ... " Whar's dat pesky wabbit?"

Great pets untill you try and be nice by putting them in a hutch outside so they can get some grass and they dig holes all around the lawn.
