Modern Talking was a German pop music duo consisting of composer/producer/background singer Dieter Bohlen and singer Thomas Anders. It was the single most successful pop group in Germany.

After splitting up in 1987, the duo reunited in 1998, at first only testing the waters with new versions of hit singles and again reaching the top of the charts unexpectedly. A series of singles and albums followed. Bohlen and Anders split again in 2003 due to irreconcilable disagreements (they had never been friends in the first place). Thomas Anders started another solo career immediately, while Bohlen had by now begun devoting most of his time to new talents, especially those he discovered on the German edition of the TV show Pop Idol/American Idol.

Well thought out answers and I even learn about BBQ on a MA thread ;-) The confusion comes from lack of perspectives. The very young do not know what has gone before them and it is a common trait among children and even some adults that they think along the lines that what they do not see does not exists or have never existed. They simply do not know that they do not know and they believe that all that they see today is the epitome of advancement and truth when in fact much of what we have in the modern world is a digression. For example, everyone today has access to a calculator or a calculator app on their iPhone and never have to do any arithmetic in their head and this makes for some pretty sad and comical situations. The other day I made a purchase with a 10% coupon and noticed the register made a mistake: an item costing $19.99 was discounted by $1.02. I told the cashier the mistake and she first tried to argue that the register was correct and finally could not understand how I figured it out in my head. She even tried (unsuccessfully) to calculate it with a pen and paper. She thought I was a math wizard being able to figure that 10% of $19.99 is $1.99 (rounded down). What is even more sad is that my grandparents could do multiple place divisions and multiplications faster than most people today can input the numbers into their calculators. Like that old saying: a pond to a frog is the whole world to him.

One of them is still a music producer in Germany and juror in the show "Germany`s Superstar". From the other one never heard.
