I can reach up there to pick different notes all day long, but when it comes to certain chords, it feels like my hand is in a funny position that I'm not really comfortable with. This makes difficult to move up and down the fretboard, especially when it's a repetitive pattern like the song I"m trying to play now. Any ideas?

Rest your palm on the back part of the guitar and make sure reaching the 6th string is just as easy as reaching the first. You should not have to move your wrist up and down to strike the notes, you should be able to turn your wrist without any arm movement down or up. Good Luck. Keep Going.

once you're urgent all 6 strings down in a chord, they are referred to as barre chords. Use your index finger to barre each and all of the strings on the third be concerned (in the journey that your finger isn't long or solid sufficient, use your thumb on the 6th string) and use your ring finger and your pinkie to %. up the third and 2nd string on the 5th be concerned. There you bypass....you're enjoying a C chord. you could play any important chord (and additionally minors, 7ths, ect) with the barre chords. based what place you play the chord, it's going to have somewhat distinctive sound. some are better for finger choosing.

I think you are just a beginner on the Guitar.
Do remember not to bring your left thump on the fret board.
Only your four fingers should touch the fret board.
When I was a beginner i used to hold the fret board with my left palm and felt very difficulty even to reach my 4 fingers on the 5th and 6th strings.
So try to do with keeping your wrist beneath the fret board and whole 4 fingers in front of.
