I was just wondering to what extent we actually do have the right to free speech?

Thanks.

You can say whatever you like, but there are consequences for some things.

You cannot willfully endanger lives with free speech, like yelling "Fire!" in a crowded area.

You cannot threaten violence towards another without expecting a visit from police.

You cannot can say "Kill all the [fill in racial, religious/philosopical, or sexual orientation type]" without being charged with hate crimes.

You cannot deny anybody else the same right to free speech. If you are an employer, you may institute whatever rules you want about what the employees may say while on the clock; once they punch out is a different matter.

You can say "I hate [insert group here]. I do not want them living around here," so long as it not a call for violent action.

Just remember that being charged with a crime is not the same as being guilty of the crime. If you are a accused of violating free speech, let the ACLU and the courts sort it out.

You have the right to free speech as long as what you say doesn't violate the rights of others.

Freedom of speech must not exceed in order not to be against morals, public order and laws.

You have the right to state your opinions about controversial subjects - but if you are talking about slandering someone or threatening someone, those things are against the law. So it kind of depends on what you want to talk about. What do you want to talk about?
