The father becomes the son line I believe is from Superman II: The Richard Donner version. When Clark gives up his powers to be with Lois but needs then back to defeat the phantom zone escapees he calls on Jor-El for help. But the in order to get them back Jor-El has to use all his power from the crystals in the Fortress which would kill it and Jor-El would no longer be on earth. So in that scene, Jor-El comes back in a ghost form and steps into Kal-El and says the line thus rendering Jor-El dead but Kal-El back to having his powers. So indeed, the father DOES become the son.

Father IS greater than Jesus at the time Jesus spoke those words; As he was just a in man's form then humble lesser than angels! Returning to his former glory alongside the Father when back in heaven. Philipians 2:5-8; John 17:5; Psalms 50:15. They are One in mind and cause! Genesis 1:26 & 2:18 ( here God shows being alone is not good!); 1 Timothy 2:15&16. Father is God Jesus in heaven is God, as the Son!

Simply means that Jor-El will live on through Kal-El.
From the original "Superman: The Movie": "You will carry me inside you through all the days of your life. My life will be seen through your eyes as yours is seen through mine. The son becomes the father and the father the son."

RE:
From Superman, explain the "Father becomes the son" thing?
"The son becomes the father". Ok, I get that. It's pretty obvious.
But "and the father becomes the son" makes no sense to me. It didn't make any sense when Jor-El said it and it didn't make any sense when Superman said it in Superman Returns.

Noob.
When Jor-El dies, he passes his spirit into Superman so he can have his powers. The father becomes the Son.
They mention it again in Superman Returns. Did I mention it was a totally horrible movie.
