We are so crap that I think this country should just give up on Cricket. There should be a country wide cricket amnesty where everyone hands over their bats and stumps etc, these are then redistributed to the elderly to burn for fuel to suppliment their winter fuel allowance.

Its been the same way for years now, except the last Ashes which England won. But somebody need to take the onus of defeat. Consider this:
1. What does the so called 'coach' has to say after 5-0 whitewash. It is high time that coach quits.
2. The English Cricket Administration needs to pull their socks up and work on the phycological aspect of players.
3. Make players more reposnsible for their rash shots. The body language was no better and very sloppy.
4. Lastly, what does the English public do? Just accept defeat and sip beers in a sombre mood eh? Rubbish. People must raise their voice and make their feelings known that its just not winnning or losing. Its a matter of pride and honour at stake.

May the good spirit prevail. Cheer up Folks!

nice idea, especially if you had an additional bus containing the politicians, the newspaper, TV & Media people who revelled in it last year, built up expectations this year...

but lets be realistic.. last years victory hurt the Aussies, is made them keener, sharper more focussed, it made the English team a bit complacent.

The Aussies were worried that the Barmy Army could be a threat so they tried to split up the tickets so that there was no one section that was all Barmy Army.. so they wouldn't get vocal or offer suppor to the players.

The English teams preperation was poor.. apparently they turned down some pre test games, alledgedly because the players didnt want to be apart from their wives. there have been some odd selection choices.. picking players who haven't played any test cricket in a year over players playing well int he previous year

I think Flintoff has probably demonstrated that he is a fantastic player.. but not a good captain, Fletchers time has probably ended. Playing sport is like work.. you cna never rest on your laurels, you can never get complacent, you can never expect success based on previous performance.

is it a major issue.. no I dont think so, if the players, selectors and adminsitrators learn the lessons.

1) prepare properly
2) dont allow players to dictate what they will or wont do.. if they wont play or prepare properly then find players who want to compete and want to succeed. If players want an expenses paid holiday with wives, family & friends fine.. but the player, or players sponsors should pay for it, and not during the run up to an important test series
3) review the performance of the support staff.. dont get sentimental.. when the support people run out of ideas find new people.. you cant stay doing the same for too long, people catch you out
4) stop playing to much cricket, too close togehter
5) when it comes to the next test series treat the Aussie supporters with the same deviousness as happen in Oz this year. IE split them up into samll groups and surround them with the Barmy Army, create an enviornment where any Aussies get drowned out, restrict the number of tickets sold to non English Cricket supporters
6) dont believe the hype.. there are good players in the team, but they dont deserve to win just because they won last year

I do not think that players should be treated shabily for loosing the series, as this is not the first time such a thing happened in the history of Ashes. One should understand that England had to face Australia at their best. What is the need of the time is to symphatise with the players and encourage them to rebuilt their strength and come stronger to regain the Ashes in 2009

You played the best team in the world, it's not your fault. England deserved to win in 2005 but the Aussies wanted it more this time and showed why they are the number one team. Maybe if you didn't crucify your team when they lose and supported them they wouldn't play so crap. You give your players MBE's after finally winning one series against Australia, I mean fark

That's a good idea - I think we tend to celebrate too prematurely - we are so relieved to get one win in the bag, we "big up" the team to such an extent that we think they are better than they are - this was a really poor performance, and we should really only celebrate consistent excellent sportsmanship in my opinion.

I tell any fan of any group to not get too worried over the universal season, extraordinarily this early interior the season. The Hawks are warm and the Sharks probable weren't waiting for them. a number of those video games take place.

nar, keep supporting your team through thick and thin. im an aussie and i was seriously in awe of the way the barmy army stuck by their team and cheered them on. encourage your team otherwise they'll just feel a bit crap and wont do any better next time.
