Apache HTTP Server (http://apache.org) is the most popular Web server on the internet. If you're going to be hosting your own Web server Apache is the way to go, regardless of your hosting platform (i.e., Linux, Windows, etc). Sign up for free web hosting with Geocities or other free hosting of your choice. Some of them offer forums already installed.

You can also get a free forum from Bravenet.com http://www.bravenet.com/webtools/forum/

They have a link there to free hosting sites and other tools for web pages that you might need.
