First of all, read up more histories & interesting facts of Singapore. Just bo to the main national library to find out more. There should contain more relevant reading materials and histories books which may interest you. Hope this info will assist you in time when they ask you about the histories and backgrounds of Singapore.

Then, familarise yourself with the Singapore roads & map. Visit http://www.streetdirectory.com for more details. If possible or you've a driving licence, you can also take the opportunity to drive around to show your foreign friends in Singapore.

Also, visit these informative websites at http://www.visitsingapore.com/publish/stbportal/en/home.html , http://www.yellowpages.com.sg for interesting spots for tourists. Trust me, I'm sure these 2 websites will help you alot.

For cheap & short-term accomodations, pls visit:

The hotel prices are really extremely affordable and you can bet your foreign friends will surely love your great recommendations.

Simple. You need to be familiarised on this places first or get a pamplet or brochure of famous buildings or sight seeings in singapore from either the library or the tourism department. Once you are set & freely memorised this places then you are ready as a tourist guide. Another added criteria is to know foreign languages. Start attend simple language course on either French, Japanese or Spanish classes. All the best :)

Get employment in a travel agency - that's the best way. Otherwise visitors may be uneasy if they are approached by strangers wanting to show them around. "Touts" in any city generally do not have a favorable image.
