I think the term "hate crime" is redundant. Any form of violence against another person is indubitably a form of hatred. And the special treatment given to victims of intolerance based on race, sexual orientation, et cetera, has the effect of making violent crimes of intolerance 'more wrong' than other violent crimes. My point is that ALL VIOLENT CRIME IS WRONG and it does not serve society's interest to penalize one form of intolerance more severely than the other because they are two sides of the same coin. Homosexual friends of mine don't like hearing this because they think harsher penalties are a deterrant and are the only way to correct institutionally ingrained bigotry. I disagree because "hate crime" has the effect of making non-hate crime 'less wrong'. Personally, I dont think non-hate crimes should be considered less wrong by anyone, especially the judicial system.

Harrassment yes, hate crime no, well from other black people like me which is pretty sad. They thought i was spanish, because I have long hair, I was called a white girl, maybe because I do at times talk properly which should be the correct term.
My Indian friend Sadia got punched in the face by this black guy, he said he hates terrorist. I was highly upset and offended just as she was because first of all, muslims in the middle east aren't so much the same as the ones here in America who don't worship their God the way the terrorist do. Second, she's not even Muslim, she's Hindu, and third, she's Indian not Iraqi, Pakistani or Afgani which shouldn't matter anyways.
People are just rude and ignorant. And I've seen white guys beat up hard working Mexicans. I mean, racism happens everywhere with all types of people, not just one race.

Yup, I've been heavily insulted and thrown stones at for being white walking in a not-so-white neighborhood.
