Sure, we are the masters of our own domain. If my recieving pleasure comes at the cost of someone else being hurt, I can deny myself this pleasure.

Well I am sure that with some effort you can resist pleasure, but I don't think you want to...!
However, I think we must resist it sometimes, for example we have to sacrifice the pleasure of eating french fries to keep our body in a healthy condition. What do you think of that?!

Of course people can "resist pleasure." It's called deferred pleasure (and other terms).
Some people - monks, priests - "resist" a lot of pleasure.
And some of us see no reason to "resist" any of it.

I think some people can resist it. But I agree with Oscar Wilde when he said:
The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. Resist it, and your soul grows sick with longing for the things it has forbidden to itself.
Good advice...if you ask me.
