Doctors have warned that if he breaks his nose again he would have to have surgery....plus Rip is very superstitious...

Well actually he wears the mask in order to play professional basketball. If he were to break his nose again not only would he be done playing basketball, it could endanger his life. Also a lot of players, him included, wear the mask because he has learned to shoot a certain way with it on and if he were to take it off then his shot would be off. And since he is performing at such a high level right now why would he want to change anything.

If Rip Hamilton breaks his nose one more time, his basketball career is basically over. The mask is there to protect his nose since it's been broken many times before. Plus, I would imagine that it would be freaky to guard him.

The guys at "Pardon the Interuption: (PTI)" answerd this one:
"Hamiltion is a very superstitious guy, I mean, the mask was doing him wonders through the injury, and he just decided to keep with it... so far it hasn't failed... plus he also likes the feel of it, I guess you could say he feels more mechanic, and this helps him"

The mask he's wearing is dual purpose, one: it protects his nose from getting injured permanently, one more hit and the damage could end his career; and two: he thinks its just cool and it defines his persona. So I don't think its stupid at all.

Doctors said if he breaks it once more he will need more surgery and its his trademark now. Also he thinks its good luck, when he started wearing it his free throw percentage went up and they won the championships

he has broke it 7 times... and soemthjign abotu if it breaks again he will have to stop playign because he has had so much surgery on it
