Cat- definitely...
1) they don't bark at every noise they hear and wake you up
2) don't have to clean up after them, they go in their own box which you clean every few days, compared to dog letting out about 10 times a day
3) don't have to have a sitter while your on vacation, leave out food and water and they are good to go
4) don't go outside and roll in things that smell terrible
5) no need to bathe them they can bath themselves
6) if you have a busy life, you don't need to spend that much time with them, pet them and no training involved
7) don't have to worry about someone suing you over a cat bite, most cats hide when strangers come near
8) lower pet care bills, dogs have to have far more meds (ex. heart worm pills) than cats do, they are more prone to get into something that can harm them
9) they don't chew up your furniture
10) most cats will not jump on nor lick you to death

It's simple. While you can do so little with a cat, a dog is more energetic, and will protect you. A cat will only cuddle with you and act cute. Whereas a dog, on the other hand, can also be playful, but can get very vicious in an instant. A dog will protect its owner when it senses that its owner is in danger. A cat will run off into the distance. Basically, a dog is better. It's Man's Best Friend.

For me dog of course I have 2 but for you it all has to do with your time and Patience. Are you at school, work, out all the time? If so a cat would do great for you they dont really miss you they dont need to go outside and all they need is is food water and a litter box.
If you have more time on your hands and you want a pet who gets excited when you get home from your short day out cause they have to use the bathroom of course and you have the Patience to potty train which some are very easy and others take months then a dog might be a good choice I have a large breed and a miniature breed the little ones are easier to me but it is all in choice. Good luck with whatever you choose

A dog will either bring your slippers (or chew them up...depends on how much time you're willing to put in training them)a cat will play with them(no training involved). It's easier to clean a litter box than take the dog for a walk in a blizzard.A dog will be a companion on a walk..a cat wants to sleep all day and party all night. They both want breakfast WAY too early!A cat will bring you dead things...a dog will roll in them. They can both look cute but have evil intent. You have to wash a dog(don't try this with a cat!!).They both own YOU(They're not your pet you're their human and ....This Is Not Negotionable!!!).Dogs will eat anything(including slippers)...Cats will look at you like your nuts(even if you had the chef cook them up frsh salmon). Both will leave wishing you had chosen the other but you'll love them anyway.Cats are easier if you live in a apartment.Dogs need room and like long walks(even in a blizzard).Get one of each!!!GL Cheers

I have 2 cats and 1 dog.

I have two very different cats. One is such a snuggler if he could get inside your chest to be that close I believe he would. He is such a loveable cat and has to be touching me when he sleeps. He scratches only on his scratching post. My other is very loveable but doesn't really care to be up close to you. She likes to be pet while at your side and sometimes scratches on other things than her scratching post.

My dog is loveable but likes to test me. I give her a command and she will always test me to see if I am going to be consistent. Which I always am. She is a barker but also a lover. She likes to snuggle but also loves to play. Another dog we used to have loved to snuggle, didn't park and listened to every command with out any problems.

All three of my pets come when I call them and go to bed when I tell them to get to bed.

Cats use a litter box which you need to clean frequently. Dogs poo outside which you also have to clean frequently. Cats you can leave unattended for up to a week with food and water. Dogs you can leave maybe 6 - 8 hours 12 max if in a kennel. Cats sleep more than most dogs. Every cat and dog is different but both need your devoted love and attention. So you have to now decide what is best for your life.

A dog. They appreciate you. They are always waiting to greet you when you come home. They snuggle with you and they will be your friend for life.

A cat will not come when you call it. Will give you attitude and scratch up your curtains. They could care less if you are gone or home, whereas a dog will miss you and be so happy to see you again.

I choose a dog because they have more personality and they are a lot more fun to to be around. I personally like the resposibilty of a dog. I am a HUGE animal lover, especially dogs. I think its because they can show love and affection. Dogs are just great!!!

Dogs generally want to see you when you come home. They just want love. Cats just want something warm with food.

Dogs will love you even if you mistreat them.

Cats have more dignity and self-esteem.
