He leaves pop cans, dishes, dirty clothes everywhere! Ive tried asking nicely, crabbing, hinting, outright asking him etc........
Ive even started throwing his clothes away when he leaves them laying around. Ive stopped doing his laundry( not long enough for him to notice though)

Stop picking up after him. Let the place go to hell in a handbag - only pick up after YOURSELF.
Sooner or later, he'll either get the idea, or start talking about divorce.

I agree with Michael on this one. If you continually pick up after a man, he will certainly let you do it. After all, why should he worry about it when he has a wife for a "mother" that will do it for him? Pick up and wash your own things and let his stuff clutter up everywhere. Sooner or later, he'll get the message and start cleaning up, especially if you invite his friends over for dinner or something. Think of it this way - you both live in the house and you both should keep it clean. It's a team effort, not a one woman show!

Why did not you notice before marriage? If he has addopted the habit after marriage then the responsibility lies upon you. It is you who can correct him through love and care. Love can change life whether it is animal....

give yourself a break..so don't do any household chores for a week...and bring in a pest that he's afraid of eg.rats?

when he sees the consequences of not doing household chores - attracting rats - he'll naturally start helping you in your household chores!
