Because isnt that basicaly what we have done to the earth with power generation? Also I would like to know what happens when you run the same with a much much larger DC battery fairly close to the same system. Cause that would be kinda like the earth and sun relationship...

So in other words bad things happen to the DC battery correct DJ? And I really cant see how you can not view the earth as a DC battery compaired to the AC voltage we use today.

I agree with DJ.

How can the Earth be seen as a DC battery? Where is the potential difference from and to? Your question doesn't really make sence.

Also, what is an AC voltage current? AC = Alternating Current. An AC electrical supply shifts the potential difference periodically from pole to pole, such that the current oscillates. The electromotive force of the AC supply would be constant. I don't quite see how your question works. There is no such thing as 'AC voltage current'.

Nevertheless, give DJ the points, because he has the best answer.

the dc battery will just act like a conductor with a certain resistance. with much larger dc battery, it would probably be the same effect with added resistance..the ac source will still prevail..but i'm not familiar if it is related with the power generation, sun and earth relationship.
