Check out http://www.ClassTopic.com They have some great topics that I've used in the past. Each topic has three good sources to get you started on the research, too.

Rather hard to give you a topic since I have no idea of your field of study.

You can get one for yourself by choosing a general topic and than cutting it down to a specific area.

Example: You are studying history. Break it down to an area. France, now take it further, the French Revolution. Finally, get a piece of that small enough to handle. The storming of the Bastille.

You should have the idea by now, just pick something in the area of study that your class is doing and chop it down to a small enough piece that won't overwhelm you.

Actually, it is a question.

A topic for researching? How about cloning other human beings? (ex: just to create life for medical uses, as in use the life's organs and so on). Or the idea to create artificial intelligence and how it can affect human kind? (ex: robots become cashiers and so on, therefore less jobs for humans)

Maybe about tax deduction and tax evasion. How some organisations evade taxes although they are considered illegal? Can state some cases on those who got caught evading taxes. And which countries are known to be best for tax evasion.
