You have the right to wear whatever you want. However, it's kind lame if you wear a jersey and don't really know anything about the guy whose jersey you're wearing, besides what team he plays on and what his jersey number is.
Also, expect this to happen: Someone is going to come up to you and say that he's a fan of the player also. He'll start talking to you about that player, asking your opinion and other questions. How stupid will you look when he realizes that you don't know anything about that player?

Fashion choices are up to the individual. Whether they are into basketball should not affect whether they can or cannot wear basketball jerseys. I see plenty of people wearing army type boots, should they be taken away from anybody not in the army? What about anything with camouflage?
