I've been thinking of University of Cambridge, Unversity of Oxford, University of Southampton, University of Sheffield, University of Liverpool and University of London (Imperial College London, King's College London, Queen Mary and St. George's). I'd like to go to these universities especially University of Sheffield. Does that university have a good Medical School? :)

Please tell me more about these universities and other good universites. I hope you can help me decide. I'd really appreciate it.

By the way, I'm also looking for a university located in a place where it won't be too expensive for me to live and where I can get financial aid for my studies and possibly a little for living costs. I'd also like that it has good reputation, accomodation, facilities and atmosphere. :)

I'm considered an international student. :)

Thank you. :)

According to The Times' Good University Guide, Cambridge and Oxford are the two best medical schools in the UK. After that, you have Imperial College and then Edinburgh and Manchester. Most British universites accept foreign students. Cambridge and Oxford would need very high grades for acceptance as they're generally considered elite universities. Being Scottish, I would suggest Edinburgh as it's a beautiful city :)

oxford

but remember that when these programmes are impacted, they rarely take on international students. in a whole class there might be one or two international students spots.

and the uk programme might not be compatible to a programme overseas. ie, if you study in england you might have to go back stateside and take additional training here. i'd recommend speaking to your counsellor at school and finding out these things before you start applying.

all that being said, oxford is great, but the university system in england is very different than overseas. financial aid might be difficult to come upon as an internation student, too. and the cost is much higher than for a student of a particular country where the school may be located. ie the cost for an english student might be 5600 while the cost for an international student might be 2 or even 3 times that amount.

Oxford and Cambridge are obviously good universities but I would definitely recommend Liverpool! The city is fantastic..the university is located right in the city centre. King's College is one of the best.

South London(elephant and Castle) isn't a very expensive place to live and totally international area. It's also very close to the West End of London where all the nightlife is, and also near to the Theatres and Galleries along the Southbank.
