it's a combination of both. sometimes our expectations are too much for our partner, that when they fail to fulfill them we feel very disppointed. we have to realize the limitations of our partners and what they are capable of doing.
also some are not really capable of fulfilling expectations even if they are very simple. so both are really responsible for failures of sreious relationships.

People's relationship skills and their expectations don't come out of nowhere. They come from the community where the people live. And when the community doesn't have any clear standards for relationships, then individuals are often confused and they cannot agree with each other on how to conduct their relationships.
It's not all up to the individuals. The community plays a big role too. And it makes a big difference if the community supports serious relationships or mostly ignores them and leaves individuals to fend for themselves.

People are always looking for another level, while one person may see it, the other may not and will never. People also only are really looking at a persons character long after they have been together. Which should be the first step in a relationship has become the last.

Keeping a good relationship is so easy, but people's pride and other things get in the way so they aren't able to give their partner what they want.
